Patsy Moore
Patsy Moore ARSMA is a renowned artist, living and working in West Sussex. Educated at Edinburgh University and Art College, she has always worked in art related subjects and has, for many years now, devoted her time to painting and teaching art. She works with watercolour, oil, pastel, pen and wash and pencil, Her preferred mediums are watercolour; enjoying its translucent qualities and constant surprises and oils for the buttery textures on canvas.
Favourite subjects include landscapes, town and city scenes and marine subjects, but pictures in her portfolio also include portraits, flowers and plants and animal portraits.
Her work is to a large degree representational, but is more concerned with exploring light and tone than detail.
Patsy has held numerous successful solo and shared exhibitions; exhibits regularly with the Association of Sussex Artists and on several occasions with the Royal Society of Marine Artists and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour at the Mall Galleries in London.
In 2019 she became a finalist at the Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year, a great and fun challenge, coping with diverse landscape subjects, TV cameras, all manner of weather conditions and ridiculously short time limits!
Dawn Light at Maldon
“I love to capture interesting light effects in watercolour and marine scenes such as this lend themselves to this exploration.”
Thames Barges on the Thames
“I enjoy the richness of tone and colour of Thames Barges and this view of these old, traditional working boats in juxtaposition with the iconic modern Shard building appeals to me.”
Alf
“Alf, who used to drive a steam-roller around the lanes of West Sussex, was about 95 when I made this pastel drawing. His twinkly eyes and mischievous smile were infectious and made a perfect subject.”
