Painters, potters and stonecarvers contributed to Horsham Festival by staging live demonstrations of their skills at Horsham Museum on Saturday (16th July).
All ten of them are members of the Association of Sussex Artists (ASA). They each spent a few hours in the museum’s grounds and barn, chatting with visitors and explaining their tools, techniques and materials as they worked.
“The Museum is a lovely, tranquil place to work”, said stonecarver Mick Oakey from Dial Post, “and the visitors who paused to talk to us showed a real interest in what we were doing. I’d cheerfully do it again.”
ASA chairman Derek Golledge, of Tower Hill, said, “The ASA showcases the best of professional and amateur work by artists from across Sussex – and on the 19th to the 27th of August we will be holding our annual exhibition at the Drill Hall in Horsham’s Denne Road”.
Entry to the exhibition will be free. For more information, or to make contact, see www.associationofsussexartists.co.uk.
