“I started painting over ten years ago following my retirement from teaching. I was fortunate enough to find an inspirational and talented teacher and began a journey which continues to this day. I enjoy using a variety of techniques and textures in my work often allowing the paint to produce unexpected and exciting results in combination with these. I paint mainly in watercolour and mixed media which lend themselves to more of my abstract paintings. My work is constantly evolving and I never stop learning. I am inspired by landscapes, atmosphere, the colours and shapes around me and by images of the many places I have been fortunate enough to visit throughout my life. I think I can sum up my work by saying that I attempt to walk a tightrope between representational and expressive painting and try to incorporate an emotional response to the images I produce.”
