“Since I was a teenager, I have always enjoyed sketching, drawing, and painting in various mediums. After taking early retirement, I completed a two year art course at college which inspired me to further my skills and begin painting full time.
Artists who inspire and whose style I admire are Constable, Joaquin Sorolla, J. M. Turner, John Singer Sargent, Monet and Van Gogh. Also, there are many living artists who’s work influence my art such as Hashim Akib and Kurt Jackson.
Lately, I have explored American Contemporary Realism style of painting with various artists such as Ian Roberts. Although much of it is done with oils I have applied this style using acrylics with various mediums and glazes. This is reflected in the four pieces shown in the gallery here.
Having travelled most of my life to many parts of the world has had a tremendous impact on what subject I choose to paint. Also, my love of nature and the environment is core to my art. In particular, I am struck by the beauty of the moment as the natural elements convene creating a glimpse of glory etched on my memory.
Nature’s palette seems endless with its contrasting beauty and changing light. Here, I share that view of the world through the medium of paint. The canvas is my window to capture your attention, engage your imagination to stand with me in a safe place for a closer look.”
